Agya Koo Nimo in Concert

The National Theatre of Ghana  presented a two-day concert dubbed “Contextualising Ghanaian Popular Music” featuring master guitarist, Koo Nimo and the National Symphony Orchestra.

The concert  took place on September 28 and 29 in the main auditorium of the National Theatre at 7:00 p.m. and was presented in collaboration with Roverman Productions and Openemaa Productions.
The concert presented the works of Koo Nimo in orchestral format. Also featuring were the Ghana Police Band, Tema Youth Choir and the Adadam Group (Koo Nimo's coral ensemble).

According to the National Theatre, The Koo Nimo-National Symphony Orchestra project is the first in a series of annual projects intended to recognise and celebrate classical Ghanaian popular music. Koo Nimo was selected for the maiden edition of the project because of his pioneering and unique contribution to the development of Highlife with his ‘Palmwine’ genre.

It was a wonderful concert, sadly it was poorly advertised and patronage was embarrassingly low. Kudos to the National Theatre, the Legend Agya Koo Nimo and his Adadam Group, National Symphony Orchestra (minus the Xylophone and "kosh-ka"), Ghana Police Band and The Tema Youth Choir.
